When was the last time your current sprinkler system was adjusted or updated? You can save both water and money with an efficiently running irrigation system.

Olde Towne Irrigation

Beginning a couple of seasons ago, we made the use of pressure-regulated sprinkler heads standard practice within our company. Why is it important to use sprinkler heads with built-in pressure regulators?

First, it conserves water by controlling the amount of pressure each individual nozzle puts out, allowing the sprinkler head to operate within the optimum pressure range. The ideal pressure for your residential rotor is 45 PSI (pounds per square inch). A system that is being run on too much pressure is not running efficiently. The flow rate will be increased, which simply means that more water is being forced through the sprinkler head than what is required.

Secondly, the throwing radius of the head is not covering what it was designed to do. Higher than necessary pressure will cause the heads to mist and the desired droplet size of the water output is too small. The slightest amount of wind will displace those smaller droplets to their not intended target, causing some areas of the turf to be too wet and others too dry. Uniformed coverage and distribution are lost at this point. The common reaction of the average landscaper (the person who cuts your grass) or homeowner to correct this is to increase the run time (apply more water, money) to help the effected dry spots, forgetting about the areas that are already too wet.

Olde Towne Irrigation

Save yourself time and money, and hire a professional irrigation contractor to evaluate any type of irrigation system you may have.

Olde Towne Irrigation offers a free review of any residential irrigation system to ensure it’s efficiency is maximized and as much water and money is being saved as possible. Maximize efficiency, conserve water and save you money.

Free evaluations of any current sprinkler system to determine it is being operated with the highest efficiency
